Using Vertex Color attribute in OSL

Hi,
I'm trying to use vertex color (channel 0) using the "OSL:UVW channel" node. It is only displayed in activeshade. How can we make it work in the high quality viewport mode? Our artists need this feature to blend multiple materials with a custom osl shader using vertex color as a mask . Painting in activeshade is not a solution.
