render to mp4 option in 3ds max 2018

Hello,

While rendering in 3ds max 2018, I am getting the options to render as .avi, .mov, etc.

But not getting video option .mp4.

I need this option. How do i get it?

Do I need to download any mp4 plugin for 3ds max 2018 render.

Please help.

Hi @Anonymous,

to get an .mp4 out of max there are 3 options.

1. render to .mov using the codec mpeg-4 (mp4 <-> mpeg-4) and change the extension .mov to .mp4.

2. render to .avi uncompressed (very heavy file) and use a tool like Handbrake (freeware) to convert to .mp4

3. render an image sequence (.png, or .tga, or ,jpg etc) and use video editing tool to add audio and convert to .mp4

there are no external plugin to add video formats.
