single frame render OK, sequence no good

Hi

I have a Birth Script that records initial particle positions and distance to camera into the matrix channel. In a script operator I use those values to manipulate the position and scale throughout the animation. My problem is this .... if I render out any single frame of the animation, I get the expected results. BUT if I render out a sequence, the scale element of the script is not executed correctly. HOWEVER, if I first set the 3dsmax interface time slider to the final frame of the animation and then render, everything goes well.

What could be causing this and how can I fix it?

Thanks
Mark
