select every other face in poly mode

Is there a way to select every other face in poly mode automaticly. Look at the picture I provided. The green circle, instead of selecting them all by hand. Could I do something like, select all of the faces, Then use some command to only select every other one. I no that sounds a lil lazy ,but it would save me a lot of time.
