DDS Unsupported DDS Image File in English

----------Well, I had to make this post again because It seems like nobody speaks spanish around here and I need to find a solution to my problem.------------

I started working with a new model a few days ago on which I rigged and now works perfectly and which I hoped to make a very good render.

At the beginning I could open the textures that this model has and they worked fine, but for some reason this message started to show everytime I wanted to use a DDS texture:

Honestly, I don't know what could have happened. The only thing I did was to open one of these textures with Photoshop CS4 to create a bump and a specular map with the same format.

I hope you can help me with this!

Hello @Anonymous,

I've been reading over the thread and double checking everything when I noticed you are on 3ds Max 9.  That is the problem here, the .png format has advanced a lot since then and I'd bet it cannot read those files properly because of that.  Unfortunately I don't have Max 9 to test on and officially I am only supposed to support 2014-2017 or current version minus three, so I think we're at an impasse here.

I will reiterate my suggestion that you use a different texture format.  Max 9 is very old and likely not going to work properly on any operating system that it wasn't built for without using compatibility layers in Windows.  I should have asked which version it was for earlier so that's on me.  I think Max 9 was Windows XP and Windows 2000 if you want to try those modes for compatibility.

Hi @Alfred.DeFlaminis , is it possible if you merge my scene into a new one? I can't do it, I've tried. That's last think I can think of.

I will do anything in my power to help you, always.  The problem though @Anonymous is that I only have Max 2017 - 2014 installed, so the best I can do is save it back to Max 2014.  If you are on Max 9 though, the file will not open in it.  Do you have access to any more recent versions of 3ds Max?

Hi @Alfred.DeFlaminis ,how are you doing? Sorry I had troubles with my network but it's fine now. I use 3ds Max 09 because my pc is not as great as I wish it was. I could try downloading the 2014 version though. If that doesn't work, I don't know what else to do. Maybe you can convert my DDS textures to PNG/JPG ?

Thank you!!

Hello @Anonymous,

No problem at all, I wasn't trying to be pushy.  I just wanted to make sure you were all set.  I'd be happy to convert your images, but I need to do it at home because my work laptop doesn't have Photoshop on it currently.  Did you need them all converted?  (No problem.)  I can't see a way out of this issue for you if these aren't converted, so I think it's ok and I am happy to do it.  I'll have them uploaded for you by tomorrow night at the latest, will try to do it tonight.

Not a problem at all @Anonymous.  I feel guilty that I didn't notice the Max 9 thing sooner, so I am doubly happy to help.
