Camera rotation & FOV

In a scene, I have a camera that's 90 degrees on it side (rendering out a portrait image - be it one you have to look at with a crick in the neck - Don't ask!)
I'm working got a script to rotate it back to 'normal' (rot 0,0,0) swap the render width & height over and still be able to render out the same image, albeit one is portrait (rotated back 90 degrees), the other landscape. Is there a know correlation between a camera's FOV and the render width? If so what is it, so I can adjust it accordingly.
