beep control in messageBox/queryBox ?

With beep enabled, the messageBox pops up with a nice two-note chiming beep. Fine.
With beep set to false, I still get a beep, the thump-like one that usually means I'm doing something wrong. Nothing red in the listener though.

Out of curiosity, I tried with a queryBox. No beep, no matter what.

Am I missing something?

Curious. The only difference beep makes here is that beep:true shows an exclamation icon in the message box, beep:false doesn't. Trouble is I have ALL windows sounds disabled (I hate the damn things) so I can't tell which sound is (or isn't) being played. Does the same in Max 9 and Max 2009.

Max 2016 (SP1/EXT1)
Win7Pro x64 (SP1). i5-3570K @ 4.4GHz, 8Gb Ram, DX11.
nVidia GTX760 (2GB) (Driver 430.86).

Oh well, no big deal anyway. Thanks for answering though. These are just some oddities I bump into.

Here's another one. When I use a pick button, no matter what the current selection mode is, it turns into select and move. Even if I don't pick anything and just right-click...
