Atmospheric Effect plugins with Mental-Ray

Hi,

Is there any way to get 3rd party Atmospheric Effect plugins work with Mental Ray? The SDK documentation only includes texture maps, materials, and geom objects.

Since standard max plugins like Fire Effect, Fog, Volume Fog, and Volume Light somehow translate to Mental Ray shaders, there must be a mechanism to support such translations.

To be specific, GetInterface method of an Atmospheric does receive a call with id=IMRSHADERTRANSLATION_INTERFACE_ID. However, the returned imrShaderTranslation is only used for calling the GetAdditionalReferenceDependencies method, and the GetMRShader method is never called.

Am I missing something?

Any help is greatly appreciated.
