3ds Max 2021 FBX Exports wrong ClassId for Physical Materials

While trying to port plugins over to 3ds Max 2021 I noticed that suddenly our exports for Unity3D related wouldn't pick up textures for physical materials anymore.

After checking and comparing the FBX files written by 32d Max 2021 and previous versions i noticed that in the material nodes 2021 writes a different ClassId. Instead of the physical material class id it writes the Arnold Standard Surface ClassId.

 

Interestingly Max2021 is capable of reimporting the FBX file again with textures. Older Versions however are not. Nor are any other tools that expect the Physical Material ClassId in order to read the material parameters correctly.

 

Was this an intended change ?
