Are you zoomed in very, very close in that view?  3ds Max has to do a lot of calculations when displaying object in the viewport, and there can be small errors due to rounding off numbers.  This usually happens when objects are far from the origin, or built in a scene that is set to use a unit scale that does not match the size of the model.  If you were to try modeling a tall building using millimeters, for example, you'll run into some problems.  In the same sense, if you were to try modeling a wristwatch when your file's units are set to meters, you'll have some major issues as well.

So verify that your model is near the origin, and the scale of the model and the file units are appropriate for each other.
