I'll probably explain this very badly, since I don't even know how to explain this myself but show it, and I am also pretty much a beginner which means this might be a very stupid problem with a very easy fix, I just don't know how to go about that.
I spent some time at a very bad attempt to create something that could vaguely resemble a sword, and even after applying the "OpenSubdiv" modifier I still get this 'low poly' shadows on the blade, and on pretty much every other component. How could I fix that? Thanks

Try this:
1- Selected the problematic polys (image 1)
2- Go to Polygon: Smoothing Groups rollout (image 2)
3- If you see that there are more then one square grayed out and showing no numbers (image 2), click each grayed out square twice until they do show numbers.
4- Now you can assign a new single number to the selected polygons (image 3)
Try this:

Thanks a lot! That worked for the blade part, however, even after setting smoothing groups properly for my hilt I'm still somewhat experiencing this. Perhaps because the hilt is bent but its edges are not so 'round' and are a bit rough? If so, is there a way I could fix that? Thanks a lot once again.

Well to fix this problem manually by moving vertices around to get a better rounding from all sides will take you lots of time,
And it's not guaranteed to fix that.
If it's up to me i do it again, i think it's even more faster.
one easy way i guess is to create a 2D shape in the front viewport, let's say, then extrude it,
After in the Top Viewport create an arc, convert it to Editable Spline, select the spline Subobject level, select the spline and use outline to create a
closed offset. Now extrude the arced shape, and use align to center it with the above created geometry,
Go to Create, Compound Objects, and choose ProBoolean and use the intersection option
this is something i did quickly with this method(i wasn't trying to be exact)
