Vertices do not weld

So I'm working on this door, I detached the bottom and top and continued working what I didn't notice is the I had selected some vertices on top of the door and detached them along with the bottom. I figured attaching everything and welding the vertices back together and then detaching again would fix it. Well, all but 3 vertices will not weld. I tried target welding and then getting the edges/vertices closer together. Still nothing happened. Please help. Also if you could explain what happened and it English, please. I would appreciate it.  Thanks.

I've uploaded the file, the vertices are on the far outside right says vertices 124 when attempting to weld.

The area around the handle is quite broken. You have multiple overlapping faces, verts and open edges. You can see them with the Xview modes

I would delete the handle (the octagonal shape) and recreate it with caps hole

Also delete the multiple overlapping geometry that you have here. Simply delete it and recreate with bridge. Then select the individual verts in the areas that you have open edges and use collapse vert (one by one)

In general:

  • Use border selection to find open borders
  • Use Xview overlapping faces to find them

Solve it deleting faces, rebuilding them and collapsing or welding the remaining verts in problematic areas  one by one (don’t select all at same time)

Just in case somebody still has trouble, I just found out that certain polygones had to be flipped. Now all my weldings work out.
