twisting a rope

Hello everybody, i am trying to make a twisted rope model.
I am using a line with bezier corner (yes, i will clean them up better later) with path deform modifier on a cylinder. My question is, how can I shove more segments from the center of the rope to the corners ? Or add more than 200 height segments to my cylinder ? Or is there a better way of making twisted rope ?
