Splines/ Sweep/Normals

Anonymous
Not applicable

Hi everyone,
For example I need to get a lattice from the surface. I select the necessary edges, press "Create Shape from Selection", and apply the "Sweep" modifier . But all the elements are turned in a random directions. But If I do the same with the standard primitive (a sphere for example), all the elements are located exactly as I need. How to prevent this problem?Без имени-1.jpg

Still having probs?

I tried doing what I think you're trying to do, and this is the result.

It doesn't go in awkward directions.

I have however highlighted the problem this workflow does generate though.

If I were you I'd upgrade 3ds Max to the latest version (2020,1), maybe that is why it works for me.

You could also try bypassing the sweep modifier and just tick Enable In Viewport and then setting the shape to be rectangular. Something many people doesn't know is an option for splines.

Hope this helps.

Hi @Anonymous ;

After creating your splines from edges, apply Normalize Spline modifier to these splines. If the problem continues, apply this modifier each spline seperately.

Kind regards;
