I am new to 3d max (2020), im following a tutorial for a project I am doing, to make a lightbulb as shown in the file but i cant find a way to make it smooth as in the perspective view all the edges are flat is there anyway to do this i tried changing from nitrous to Open GL so that i could use the Smooth and highlights function but it didnt seem to change much.
Here is the tutorial i am following for refrence https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HYReJ2WHGOU

Display driver has nothing to do with it. Change it back to Nitrous.
Check the spline vertex type: They should be set to 'bezier'. Select the spline vertices->right-click->Bezier. Then make your adjustments.
In the tutorial he checked 'Bezier' under 'Creation Method' . This way you can left-click and hold down while dragging to adjust the spline tangents. Try it, it`s very intuitive.
If changing the spline's points from Corner to Bezier or Smooth doesn't work, switch from Vertex to Segment mode in the Selection rollup, select all segments, right click in the viewport and change them from Line to Curve.
If the edge length is too inconsistent, you can open the Interpolation rollup and try switching off either Optimise or Adaptive mode, or both. Here, you can also change the number of interpolation steps.
If the edge shading is still too flat, ensure Auto smooth is enabled in the Rendering rollup, or alternatively, add a Smooth modifier to the top of the stack.
