Hi, can someone please guide how to shrink wrap and add mark in 3ds Max like in these picture?
Solved! Go to Solution.
The easier way to do it would be Marvelous designer with cloth simulation. Not sure if Max cloth is flexible enough for doing this.
About the symbol a normal map or displacement would be OK (for a render effect)
wow cool, may i ask did you get this image from Max cloth or marvelous designer? Thanks.

Marvelous designer in 4 minutes,
I don't know how to use Max cloth and I don't know if it can do that. All examples I have seem of Max cloth are quite basic. The bottle thing is also basic, but it needs to be tight around the bottles and this could be perhaps too much for the 3ds Max accuracy that seems Ok for cushions, blankets and curtains (I can not find other types of examples)
I found tutorial using max cloth but the cloth only covers from top, how do make it wrap around the object?

Do you have tutorial on how to wrap object in Marvelous designer?
In marvelous designer you normally sew the part around the object and then make it tighter, I can do a tutorial if you want. There is a 1 month trial that you can use.
In Max, no idea. There are numerous tutorials but only for those things: cushions, blankets and curtains. The most similar thing is a cushion. There is a chance that could be possible but I have not been able to find a example that remotely resembles what you want in Max CLoth.
About other Max tools (compound objects), they have the tendency to conform only in one direction (top, bottom etc). About the conform brush in topology, it makes a huge mess.

Yeah, could you please do a video tutorial on how to create that shrink wrap you just did in marvelous designer? It would be a big help since i never use marvelous designer and still scratching my head.
This is the video, it is not a tight demo as I wander several times with the options but makes the job.
What is not shown there is that I press several times the space bar to activate or deactivate the cloth simulation.

Hi there.
It has been a while but I found this posting about doing the shrinking film that I am trying without any success in 3dsmax. I saw this post and I went on to MD and straight out of the box I managed to do something a MILLION times better than 3dsmax. The problem is, being a newbie, I can only do it with two rectangles and then, in the end, I have two sets of uvs that given their massive size it becomes mission impossible to stitch them. I noticed from your image that you have only one seam. I dissected the post and you mention that you wrap the film around the object and then make it tighter. I have been trying for days but I can't seem to manage. I have posted some questions on the MD website but no one is replying. I tried to look for the video you posted but I guess it has been taken down since it was quite a long time ago. So, any chance you could point me out in the correct direction of doing this with one rectangle only?
This is what I managed so far
Many Thanks
