Property of vertices/edges/faces that I don't know about?

I removed some faces from an object.

I welded the vertices so when you lasso select one it shows that you have one vertex selected.

I checked to make sure I didn't have multiple edges or faces on top of each other, also by lasso selecting them.

I used 'weld selected subobject' in the UV Editor so that no seams show up in the interior.

At this point as far as I can tell these vertices/edges/faces are perfectly normal, but if I use 'MeshSmooth' it will create open seams in the UV Editor where I previously removed the faces. So even though it appears that I don't have multiple vertices in the same xyz positon, and no seams show up in the UV Editor before I use meshSmooth, those vertices seem to have some property that causes this and I don't understand what it is.

Could anyone please explain what property these vertices/edges/faces have that cause them to behave this way?

Here's what I'm talking about in the UV Editor:

Can you see any evidence of a mesh anomaly when you view the meshsmoothed object in the viewport?
