What are the best ways to place lights and get better realistic capture? Moreover, I also want to know what are other considerations during the render.

In menu Render -> Environment, Environmental Map, click on None and install "Sun&Sky" and work on Exposure control and "Render Preview".

Or use Create -> Lights -> Photometric to install a free lights.   Those near the camera will have little shadow.
