My objects are seeming grey

Except a few, my objects are seeming grey and when I change their color, only their edges' color are updating correctly. Why the surface colors are not updating?

Try saving it in Max 2018 so i can take a look at it

saved in 2018. non of the ofbescts are frozen by the way.

The explanation is simple,

All your objects have Physical Material applied to them, except those in the image below

Objects with no materials

In the material editor, choose an empty material slot, then use the eyedropper near the material's name

And click on an object in the scene, other than those in the image above, and you'll see the object's material 

Showing up. Now you can edit it as you like.

All have a gray color except the black metal on the table's legs which is also a physical material but

With a black color

Pick material from objects using the Eyedropper
