Greetings,

Recently I started working for a company using 3ds max 2015 and I've had few issues with my viewport and some objects that I wanted to move or hide.

Since I really don't know how to explain it, here's two attachements related to my problem. hope someone has already solved that problem!

Thanks!

hi,

unsure what the problem is from your screenshots, Are you just trying to align the units next to each other? in one of the shots it looks like the pivot is not center to the object, is that what you are trying to change?

BatJack19, I think he/she is referring to the fact that the faces of the object are not in the same location as to mesh of the object.  It appears that the faces are offset from the mesh by a foot or so.

I've never seen that before.

As you can see the pivot is correctly adjusted to only one unit. In both screenshots, this is the Same unit, except that the wireframe does not want to move with the object. Sometimes it does the exact opposite. The object stay in place while the wireframe move with the pivot (as it normally should)

I rarely had similar issues with older version of Max.

Usualy Undo + Redo fixes it.

Sometimes Save + Restart Max is the better option.

gabriel.auger07, you probably know this but, just in case, I'll post this.  Here are the steps I take to fix glitches like the one you have:

1) Undo/Redo until it's fixed.  By default, 3ds Max only has like 10 Udos.  Go to Customize > Preferences > General > Scene Undo and ramp the Levels up.  It goes up to 500, which is probably excessive but 150-200 should do.  Maybe some people notice a difference in performance in complex scenes but I generally haven't.

2) Restart Max.

3) Restart you computer.

4) Open an Auto-saved version of your file.  C: > Users > [User Name] > My Documents > 3ds Max > Autoback.  Sort by Date Modified and start opening previous versions to see if the problem is a recent occurance.  By default, Max only has 3 AutoBackup files, which is a little light.  You can increase the number of backup files (and how often your computer saves them) by going to Customize > Preferences > Files tab > Auto Backup > Number of Autobak files.  I have 10 backups, saved every 20 minutes.

4) Close Max, open a new file and Merge the old file into the new scene.  File > Import > Merge.  Pick the file and select "All".

5) Remodel the object.  (Sometime this is the easiest.)

Good luck.
