Mimicing displacement

Dear all,
I'm fairly new to max and hope I can clarify my problem to you enough:

There's one big plain with a displacement applied to it and converted in to editable poly. And there's a far smaller plain above that has to mimic the displacements of the bigger one - like a carpet - no matter if the smaller plain is moved along the bigger one, rotated or scaled.

Is that possible?

I assume that booleans would do the job but than I wouldn't be able to adjust, rotate or scale without losing the analogy of displacement of both plains.

Thanx
Sebastian

The Conform space warp may be what you are looking for, look it up in the Max Help file.

Yeah! Thanx!

Unfortunately I can't try it now because I'm in AfterEffects but I will let you know ...

I don't know if this would work, but if you moved the plane geometry in subobject element, the displacement gizmo shouldn't move. So you could move the geometry around and the effect of the displacement would stay in place. I hope this makes sense? Been a long week, already!
