Igloo/Spiral cut a sphere

Hello,

I am trying to create an igloo made of blocks with different dimensions (attached images showing the construction of an igloo.)

Is it possible to create a spiral cut in a sphere to achieve that?

You could use a helix spline with taper curve modifier to conform it to a hemisphere and sweep. Then pro boolean, delete all except the faces outside of the hemisphere (no interior) , remove isolated verts and shell. The rest manual edit.

By the way hemispheres are buggy, better to use a sphere and edit it.

This is not an easy way to do it and perhaps there are quicker ways
