How to turn off selection Brackets?

The problem I'm struggle with is that if I toggle the selection brackets with ''j'' or in the settings, only half of my selection brackets are gone, even though I have all the object selected. I have tried to make a maxstart scene but that didn't work either. How can I turn off all the selection brackets?

Not sure what version of the app you are using but for 2016+ it will be  -- Customize > Viewports > Selection/Preview Highlights

are you sure that maybe some objects are not just grouped? even to themselves? because the way something that is grouped is displayed almost the same as the 'j' selection option?

Hi, Go to Per-View Presets, and tab Per-View Preferences and deselect "Selection Brackets" and click on Apply to all views and ok.

In 2023 and later you need to click on your viewport shading mode (Standard, High Quality etc.) and then choose Active Vieport settings > Preferences and either tick or untick the Selection Brackets checkbox. It's the second option.

The default hotkey for selection brackets toggle in recent versions of 3ds Max is Shift-J - in older versions it was only J if I remember correctly.

Oh, yeah! Shift J. I couldn’t remember what they changed it to. Lol

 Thanks!
