editing 3d model in obj file format

I have a 3d model in obj file format. The model consists of several different objects. And I want to delete all other objects of one. When I select any one object from them, all get selected. The ungroup button disable. So, how to ungroup different objects from an OBJ file?

Convert to poly the object and use "element" to select the parts to be removed
