Creating mesh overlay

Hi everyone!

I need to duplicate a mesh and put it as overlay to use with different material, the problem is, some borders get displaced, I believe it's because the borders (or edges? Sorry, my english is horrible) has curves, also, probably I'm not resizing from model center (I could centralize it, but in that case this must fit another resources, so I can't change the position' cause would be a problem to make it compatible again).

Must looks like this:

But some areas looks like:

Is there a way to create this overlay and prevent this displacement?

Thanks in advance, and sorry for my bad english.

You could copy the mesh in place and then use push-modifier to get some offset from the original mesh.
