Controls are all weird!

So I am a Games Development student and have been using 3ds max 2015 at college and got used to the fluent controls very quickly. At home i recently downloaded 2017, and the controls are all over the place and I hate them. I tried changing it to maya controls but that wasnt much better. Is there anyway to revert them back?

I cant install 2015 on my pc for some reason it just fails over and over so thats out of the question.

Any help appreciated.

When you say "Controls", I assume that you're talking about hotkeys or Keyboard Shortcuts.

If so, what you can do is Save the .kbdx (Keyboard shortcut file) file from your Lab computer, and then Load the .kbdx File onto your Max 2017. This way you don't have to reassign any shortcuts.

In max 2015 go to Customize > Configure User Interface > Save. 

then load that to your max 2017 Customize > Configure User Interface > Load

When I say controls I mean how you rotate the camera, zoom in and move about in the 3d space. For some reason I cannot do any of these the same way I would in my college computers.

So i tried what you said and it doesn't work. I did exactly as you said and i still can't control the software properly

Hello @Anonymous;

First of all, how to revert your default 3ds max controls:

-Go to Customize > Customize User Interface > Click on Reset (bottom right of the dialogue box)

Second, How to get maya scene controls in 3ds max:

-Go to Customize > Preferences > Interaction Mode > At the Left rollout, change the option to Maya from 3ds Max, and click OK.

To be fair i still dont think this has resolved my problem. i cant drag the
camera, some things like being able to select multiple faces whilst holding
ctrl still doesn't. my only other option is to try and install 2016 even
though i couldnt do it last time.
