Cannot add multiple colors/textures onto 1 object

Anonymous
Not applicable

I've tried programming this wall

Walldrawing.png

In order to make the center part black, however, when i was coloring the model the whole thing becomes black and not just the center. I've tried assigning different ids to the parts i want to make black, i've already tried using the material editor to assign different sub materials but it still manages to paint the whole thing black and it's impossible to work on this thing, while i thought it's easy. I've tried the solutions on the internet but to no avail. Please help?

The material editor.png

The black part is ID 12, but when i add in the material it proceeds to make the whole thing black anyway. The white part's ID is 2.

Are you sure you've applied the right material, because your editor shows you've selected the first material but, the shader that's applied is the one next to it!

You can go to the objects subobject mode and then try to apply the material, although it's not the real issue. If you don't mind, can you isolate the object, then post a screenshot with your material editor open and the object selected? That would be make it easier to tell.
