Wrapping objects around another

Hey y'all, hoping someone can point me in the right direction as I'm at a loss of things to search. Basically, what is the best way of trying to wrap a premade object around another? I've tried using the modifiers .. bend, twist, and path deform for this but none of them seem ..err.. suited for this application. (perhaps I'm doing it wrong). there are a number of places where I need to wrap objects and I would be super appreciative of some pointers Smiley Surprised
(also as it may be suggested, I have tried segmenting the object and then using twist ect and theres some strange stretching going on)

I'd like to wrap that around the cylinder ^ Smiley Surprised

Hi. For this specific case I would use another method. I would make a shape with the profile of your object and then make a line that is the path. Then I would put a Sweep modifier on top of the path line and pick the shape as costum profile.

Hope it helps

BTW - both the shape and the path can be extracted directly from the geometry. This way it'll fit perfectly.
