Uneven ends using Sweep/ Bend/ Extrude Modifier on arc spline

This just happens when not using 180 arc angle,  ends aren't aligned with ends of spline (w/ radius 65 cm) like you see in picture,

1. I tried extrude polygon along spline but the base is messed up and slightly uneven.

2. If I use align to face normals its back on 180 degree.

3. Also Sweep isn't working right, so does Bend

I'm just trying to be simple so this can be achieved easily, I don't think it requires poly modeling so that's why I'm asking ... Thanks very much

Here's an example of using sweep with a custom shape (a closed line).  Does this not meet your requirements?

Hi, Sorry I meant the ends of the shape to be horizontally aligned like complete arch without angled ends, vertically perpendicular on x axis  or horizontally parallel. I know i can use slice to cut the extensions or using make planer on Z. but I just want to find a way faster..

You could also do a ProBoolean Intersection with a box that includes all of the final arch (not the ends to be trimmed).

hi sorry for late lazy reply, thanks for your input, but can i just use make planer on X with the pivot aligned locally I tried it but i think it doesn't get planned out correctly, how can i make sure that any possible segment aren't missing if it needs more segments until it get planned, is there a way or script for this, I mean that was fastest try I did...

Hi ..

make attach with the straight lines and the arcs .. then make a wild vertix that is connected between the arc and the straight line and the sweep will be fine and work correctly 🙂

hey, thanks for taking the time to help, sorry somehow I couldn't reach back to my post.

I did try your answer but it always get aligned incorrectly and needed pivot adjustments in Sweep parameters rollout which also mess with the dimensions of originally intended shape, and yes I tried to reverse back new spline(s) and rechecked on original first vertex with 'make first'.

I also tried to close the arc and played with edit poly to try to see if any I'm missing from your answer, so I guess the fastest answer I already tried:

1- Extend arc beyond intended position

2- Apply Edit poly

2- Use Slice plane

If you have perhaps a way I missed from above please let me know!

I faced problem with sweep modifier earlier ...

sometime I solve it with edit my modeling so because of that I'm first told you to edit the modeling
and sometimes I use Xform modifier on the shape before use the sweep it sometimes work and sometimes not

the last way I use it .. railclone  plugin so I don't  have to use sweep a lot .

I appreciate your following up on this. Thanks for quality options you provided, yes I'd heard about those plugins but I find it overkill for this simple task. One thing that bothered me is second point in your first answer about welding the ends of arc with straight lines, I misinterpreted it as single line so i made two vertices and after attach part no matter what i couldn't weld them, yes snap on, front view, even highest threshold lol... so tried creating line from spline itself and extend them out, as I read online, this can't be done "point cannot have 3 converging lines".. and then i reinterpreted it again this time two lines which turned out not the shape I wanted, this is what i wanted with simplest way possible:

you are right ... I think It's the best solution

BTW try to use xform modifer

and you can search on youtube about the railclone plugin

and you can download it from I too software website 😊

you are welcome !
