Soft Selection Vertices Pivot

Why is it that when I'm using soft selection, if I select an edge or a face, the pivot centers on the selected sub-object as expected, but when I select a vertex, the pivot centers to the averaged area of the entire soft selection? It's very frusterating.

True, but I actually find the way all the sub object selections behave in different ways to be useful when modelling.  Each one produces a slightly different result and as such is suitable for different tasks.

But you can use the 'Local' Reference Coordinate System to focus the transform Gizmo on to a specific vert when in soft selection. But it might not be quite what you are looking for.

I suppose it's a matter of preference but, given that vertex mode is the only sub-object mode that behaves differently, it feels like an unintentional implimentation mistake. I would prefer consistency.
