Snapping vertices along single axis

How I could snap vertices along a single axis without them snapping into nearest one I'm moving the cursor at? (Y in this case, see the gif below)

Here's a gif that might help to understand. Free Blender can do it so I'm sure fancy expensive software can as well. 🙂

Hi;

Please hit Alt+D before you pull them to snap. This action will Enable your Axis Constraints for the snaps, where the long way is at:

-Right click on any snap tool, go to Options Tab > Enable Axis Constraints.

Edit: I forgot to add: Using Grid Points or Grid Lines option for snaps will help a lot with this).

Hope this works for you (i'm sure it will, since it works for me).

Best regards;

Alt+F3 is the key.

Previous versions had both Alt+D and Alt+F3 as shortcut. New versions only have Alt+F3. Accordingly, If you look at the reply date (which is 2016) you can see why Alt+D was given as an answer
