I have a beginner question. When you are working in a box that previously have been rotated and you need to use the slice plane. How do you make the slice plane perpendicular to the rotated new faces? And how can you place a pivot or draw a grid on parallel to the rotated faces.

Let's say you would like to orient the slice plane parallel or perpendicular to a specific face of an object.  For example this one of a teapot converted to an editable mesh.

I'd create a box that is parallel to the world and then with the box selected use Tools, Align, Normal align...  click the top of the box then the face of the teapot yielding this:

Now add the slice modifier to the teapot and select the Slice Plane subobject and use Tools, Align, Align and click the box and check the boxes for X axis, Y axis, Z axis in the Align Orientation.

The slice plane is now parallel to the face.  To make it perpendicular rotate it 90° about the local y (or x)  axis of the Slice Plane.
