Rotating an object skews it

For some of my objects (not all of them), when I rotate them, the object also gets skewed. See the attached images.

The objects are Editable Polys.

If I create a new box and convert it to Editable Poly, then Attach the mesh that gets skewed, that seems to fix it. But I'm wondering if there's a way to prevent this from happening in the first place. I have a lot of objects that I'm placing around several scenes and don't want to have to keep doing this.

Thanks!

Update: I tried deleting everything else in the scene to save just the sled object as its own .max file, to upload here. But after deleting everything else, rotating it worked just fine...!

I thought maybe it was because the object was an instance, but when I right-click on the bolded "Editable Poly" modifier and select "Make Unique", it still skews it when I rotate it. I'm a fairly new max user... I'm confused!

Found the solution; the sled object was a child object, so to fix it:

  1. Unparent all children from the parent object.
  2. Reset the xform on the parent object.
  3. Collapse the xform modifier in the modifier stack.
  4. Re-parent the child object to the parent.

Rotation now works fine.
