Pack selected UVs doesn't work since 2023.1 update

Hello, until the latest update it was possible to only pack selected UVs. I need this because I have always some UV islands which are not visible and don't need to waste space. So I pack everything and then squeeze them in the remaining space.

Now it's always packing everything, no matter what I have selected. How to fix this?

So do I have to use Blender now or is there a solution to fix this?

No you are not the only one to use this technique.  Pretty common I imagine. Regarding the solution for Max 2023, check out the solution 1 user found here:

Briefly, he/she changed the Pack: Custom tool options from Unfold 3D to Recursive Packing and reported that it fixed the issue.  I do not have max 2023 installed so I could not check it, but maybe it will work for you too.  As you are probably aware, Pack:Custom  worked fine on selected UV Islands in Max 2022 and prior versions with the default settings of the tool.  Not sure what changed in max 2023, but play with the customization option of the Pack:Custom tool and hopefully you will get the behavior you want.

Thank you. Yes, Recursive Packing allows you to pack only selected UV islands. But, It's a very inefficient Algorithmen. 

 

So at the moment I detach the faces I don't want to be packed and attach them after UV packing. Unfold 3D is great, but It needs to work on selected UVs.

I have the same problem. It would be nice to know if there's a way to pack selected islands without having to detach polygons.
