Objects return to original position

Hi, I'm fairly new to 3DS Max and I'm having some trouble. With objects moving by themselves. What happens is, I will be moving or rotating and object, and certain actions will cause it to reset all my changes!

For example, when I copy an object by holding Shift and dragging, as soon as I click the "OK" in the copy pop-up menu, the object goes back to where it was, but its move gizmo is offset. Here's a video of it happening (you can't see the copy pop-up for technical reasons):

It happens for other reasons, as well. I've tried posing by character with its bones, but at some point I hit ctrl+Z and all the rotations I'd done were reset, and she was back in a T pose. If anyone could explain what's going on, I'd be very grateful!

FYI, there is an error message with your video saying that it is Unavailable and Private.

I think the issue is that the object that you are copying is skinned to a bone. So the cloned object is also skinned.  If you clone the object and remove the skin modifier from the clone, it should still have it's pivot in the right position and behave as expected.  Hope this helps.
