Materials rotating after being applied to a face

I'm tearing my hair out about this. I'm fairly new to 3D modelling and all I am trying to do is apply a material to a face, over a series of several faces.

When I apply the material to a bunch of faces it displays the material as rotated on multiple faces. Why is it doing this?

Why can it not just have the material display on the face the correct way around?

Why is one of them split in half and mirrored?

What is telling it that that is the correct thing to do?

I'm going to go ****ing crazy I swear.

I'm quite new to 3ds max as well, all i can suggest is you put the material on each face separately but use the UVW Map modifier to move the material to the correct place and size. This may take some time but I'm new so i don't really know, hopefully a more experienced person responds! HELP FOR FELLOW MAN XD.PNG

(This picture is to show you the UVW Map modifier)

Unwrap the model first mate. From what I see in the picture you've posted, it doesn't look like it's UV Unwrapped. You could use UVW map modifier, but it's ok for simpler and quite angular objects like boxes, or crates. If you're doing a complex object, you can make use of the UNWRAP UVW modifier.

It's not convenient for me to explain the method here, there's more to visual than verbal. So it's best you watch some simple tutorials.

Hi Friends

You can not achieve what are you looking for without unwapping  or uvw mapping your model.
