Issue with it not selecting edges or faces in Max

Hello. I was modeling in Max just fine when all of a sudden two issues sprung up leaving me dead in the water.

1 It lets me select verts but will NOT let me select faces nor edges. Funny thing is that if I select a different model it can. But not the one I'm working on. So strange.

2 And now this issue. It won't let me move in the direction I want the selected vert to go. I try to move it up but it will not go up. However I can move it side to side.

This is driving me nuts. Any help will be great so I can move on to the sculpting part that I love.
Thanks. Picture of what I'm trying to block out.

I already tried to save it out and import it back in to see if that fixes the issue to no avail.  I'll post a video below once I figure out how. Thanks!

For issue #1 do you have anything enabled under "Selection" like "Use Stack Selection"?

For issue #2 do you have constraints set to anything other than none? Also potentially you may have snapping enabled.

If you can share the scene with us it should help us figure out what is going on.

Thank you. It was only that one object. The other objects worked just fine.  1. No. I don't. I know to check that. 2. Snapping was not enabled. Constraints set to none.

I could create a new sphere and select then model just fine. Though when I went back to the model in the scene that had the issue it was not resolved and I can not do anything with it. In the end I exported it out then had to import it into a new file for it to model ok again. I don't know why. It's never done that to me before in all my experience in game development.

Yeah that's a strange one. If it is possible to share, I would like to take a look at that scene.

Yeah I can try to share it. Do you need the file, exported stl, or obj?
Mind you I imported back in the model I had worked in a fresh file and now
it works just fine. Only now it's in tries.

Do you still have the max scene with the misbehaving object?

No. As I had to keep working so I exported and imported the object into a
new file worked on it then imported it back in deleting the buggy object.
So I don't have anything to show as it's fine now. Sorry.
