Inset Problems

I am having issues with the inset tool. I want to extrude certain polygons and when i want to select them it doesn't select what I want to extrude. The polygon I want to select is in the middle between the two circles insets. Please help :). I did re-do the model but this still happens.

I Think I know what you are trying to do - Select one of the inner edge of the circle that borders the polygon you want to extrude - after selecting do a loop ( or select all of them in the circle ) after they are selected do a cut. this will create the poly you are trying to extrude. Hope this helps
