Importing a textured UV map. Need help.

So I got a model from the web, along with the textures in the form of a UV map. I've never used UV mapping in 3Ds Max, and therefore have no idea where and how to import the map into it. Also the UV map is in the ".dds" extention.

I'm not sure what purpose you're using this model for, but DDS is supported by several game engines so you may want to keep it in that format... otherwise, you can use photoshop to convert it to a different format.

 

If I understand correctly, you're basically asking "how do I apply a texture to a model?"

 

It's worth reading article linked below, but open your material editor, create a material, load your bitmap, attach it to the diffuse channel, and apply to model.
