I just want to reveal original meshes and not their copies or their instances.

To differentiate how many different objects the scene has (not including instances or copies)

i.e. if I made a sphere, then copied or instanced it...if I hid all instances and copies then it would show just 1 original sphere as a different object in the scene.

Once you make a copy, there's no easy way to tell if it's related to some other object in scene since it doesn't reference it anymore. With instances, it's different, there's the Select Instances tool which select all the instanced objects based on the initial selection, for example.
