Cant Create Object or Draw Spline in Front View

As the title says I cant create an object or draw a line in the front view in 3dsmax. Why is this happening?

Although you may be viewing your model from the front (XZ plane) you may be using an orthographic view. Check that the view label is not "orthographic" but is in fact "front".  If the view orientation is front but it's an orthographic view you cannot use screen picks to draw objects.  Max is trying to project the screen pick to the XY plane which it can not do as the XY plane is perpendicular to the screen.

just click "v", then select "front view"

Hi,

I just had this happen to myself. I couldn't draw on the 'top view' of any viewport. I restarted 3DSMax everything, still could get it to work, made me feel like a complete idiot.
Then I remembered that I had set up a GRID Helper object in the last session and had been using that GRID Object to draw on a custom XYZ orientation. 
To fix it I went to Tools Menu -> Grids and Snaps -> Activate Home GRID.
Can draw again now.
