Cannot select layers by click and drag

When i wan't to select multiple layers i can only do so by click the layer one by one ,it's seems something wrong but i don't how can to fix it ,i search this question on Google but failed to found any useful results .

To select multiple, click on the top element, then press Shift on the keyboard and select

The last element, now all elements in between will be selected in addition to the two selected items.

Hi,

You appear to be talking about items in a layer,rather than selecting actual layers. Regardless of which you should be able to select multiple items either by using Shift-1st/Last, as miledrizk mentioned, or by pressing Ctrl for separate non sequential items. If this is not working then there is a problem somewhere.

I have found in some old version ,3ds Max seems can select layer by click and drag ,but when i want to do this in 2020 version i can only move them instead of select .Shift select seems not the same things .
