(Beginner) Bend Modifier problems

Im following a video tutorial on how to make a retro telephone. After I apply the bend modifier, whenever I click or marquee anywhere in the viewport the model becomes distorted. For some reason, I dont have this problem when I have vertices activated. only when edges, polygons, etc are activated. How can I stop this from happening so I can continue the tutorial? What did I do wrong?

  • Bend goes above symmetry, because you want to bend the entire phone piece.Data flows from the bottom of the stack to the top.So the geometry is provided by editablePoly->Symmetry does the copy and mirroring of the geometry->then finally the result is deformed by the bend modifier.
  • Turn off 'Show Endresult' when you go back to editpoly level to create the additional edge loops. 'Show Endresult' when turned on, displays the result of the entite stack, no matter on which level of the stack you are working.
  • Make sure that after you finished you don`t pass subobject selections up the stack. This is indicated by the small icons (vertex, edge, polygon) right hand of the modifier stack entries.
