audio wave modifier surface help

Hi
This has been stumping me for years.
Maybe this is impossible or more likely Im going about this in completely the wrong way.
Im trying to get real animating audio waves into Max as 2D surfaces. Not just the animated wave modifier which animates all the surface at the same time.
Below I have a 2 splines shaped using linked xform modifier attached to dummys with audio controllers.
Ultimately I want the left spline and the right spline to co loft my surface and create something like the blue wave modified small pic at the bottom.
I had hoped nurbs surfaces might work but I cant see how yet.
Any suggestions of where to take this next much appreciated
