Vertex paint operator in Data Channel Modifier (DCM)

Vertex paint operator in Data Channel Modifier (DCM)

For operations like delta-mush, tension modifier, etc, it's imperative to have an intuitive, user friendly paint tool that can help in transferring vertex data/information between operators. This would be easy to use and prevent the modifier list from looking clunky and confusing.
Especially since most of the capabilities of DCM relies a lot on vertex paint to be used best.
Also, vertex paint needs to be simplified and straight forward.

Is this already possible by painting on a map channel, and then using the Vertex Input operator?  Is your request mainly to streamline this process?  Put all the paint UI inside the Data Channel modifier could be pretty redundant and heavyweight, how else could this work?

streamlining the process is one, but i'd find it more useful if we can have a simplified version that just transfers vertex data straight away in the stack, without having to go through vertex color maps and co, to be more specific.

we can also leverage the benefits and pace of working in just one modifier/environment, and also how DCM orders stacks by adding, subtracting and multiplying operators. i feel it would give more power and convenience...
