having separate viewports to show the scene is great but being able to separately isolate objects from each viewport would be very helpful to keep checking on objects in huge scenes while working on specific isolated ones from other viewports.
Than you for your idea. I wanted to let you know that you can already do what you want to accomplish inside the current Slate Material Editor. You can always drag values used from one material into slots on another material. And for comparing the values, all you need to do is enable the Show All Additional Parameters option for a material (which you can access via right-clicking a material). See attached screen shots.
