PTEX Support

PTEX Support

Would love full PTEX support inside 3dsmax. This would include...

  • Ability to read Ptex files into the material Editor as a map. The map would need to associate the ptex files with large volumes of geometry by having the map read the object name its applied to in order to match up the object with its associated ptex file. An object name change would rename the associated ptex files to keep the link.
  • Ability to bake texture maps and displacement to ptex files using the max Render To Texture
  • Ability to paint to ptex files using Viewport Canvas
  • And the most important, when a geometry change happens, like an extrude, more faces added or removed, new spans added etc, have any associated ptex files with the geometry fixed automatically so rebaking isn't necessary. This would really make 3dsmax the PTEX leader, as no current software does this well. The standard workflow is to make geometry changes then go through a manual process to repair the ptex file to the geometry. If this happens automatically while the geometry change is being made, you can capture what change happens as its happening, and that will let you repair the broken ptex file way easier.

I'm waiting.

PTex is the best system but not followed. I think really that it is the future and a good solution to begin this future!
