Please make the material editor dockable!

Please make the material editor dockable!

Please make the materials editor/slate window dockable in a normal viewport space.

Or similar to the command panel where it is locked to the ui and the viewports have to conform to its presence.

I have been using 3dsmax since v1 and the material editor floating on top of my work has been a silly annoyance since day one.

Thank you.

I don't experience the ME floating on my work like you do, I use dual monitor and everytime I open the ME, it is where I last placed it, i.e. on my 2nd monitor exactly where I like it 🙂

basically if you have a single monitor, it means the material editor will be opened/closed a million times a day.

or you will need a "dummy" viewport underneath it.  And even then you'll have to hide the mat editor if you want to maximize any other viewport.

The node based material editor needs a lot of space anyways, so I always have it on a second or third monitor. I imagine it would get a little cramped if you dock it in the main window?

I'd prefer to see a dockable Activeshade window

EXCELLENT i'm glad to hear this status changed to consideration.
It's honestly a huge issue for me.

Seems like the easiest thing to make things dockable.

Would love this.... it's so annoying having a floating material editor that gets hidden half the time so you have to close it, then open it up again and wait while 3DS freezes whilst it loads in all the shaders.! <_<

Maya has it for a long time now.... come on.... throw us a bone.
