Modern, Unified Curve control to replace the numerous controls spread throughout

Modern, Unified Curve control to replace the numerous controls spread throughout

Max needs a single modern curve control based on QT that can replace the various existing controls and that is also accessible to 3rd party developers. The current controls are not great in HiDPI environments, doesn't scale with the modifier panel and isn't separable or dock able.

This control would be used in items such as

1.output map

2.PathDeform

3.soft selection

4.Bevel Profile

the list goes on...

Totally! I wil add "Softselection" on Editpoly. Its a pain the small options we have to control our softselection values there. We can improve it with Datachannel... But why not having a total custom soft selection curve inside editpoly?

Oh, and also softselection on vol.select. (well, to make it short all softselections).

I thought the control in Bevel Profile and TextPlus IS the new one?

+1000^2! I've been wishing for a decent, unified curve control in max forever. And about soft selection, it's interesting how it is in Skin Morph. Ahhhh consistency....

It also needs to be fully createable in maxscript.

Right now You have to create points in the UI in order to access them in maxscript, for doing very dense curve it is totally nonsense...

It can be frustrating when making adjustments to a mix curve in any material. The window is too small and making minor adjustments that can have big changes in your material is very difficult to work with. Would love to be able to stretch and expand the mix curve window (screenshot attached – you'd never know, but the leftmost point is a bezier curve). Very difficult to adjust that at that scale. Same goes for the gradient ramp flags. Some flags sit right next to each other and it can be a hassle trying to select/adjust the right one without being able to stretch the UI (screenshot attached).

For the curve control, check Edit curve control.

Not bad Ramp map in Arnold... can be candidate to replace Max's Gradient Ramp...

its style should be updated as well, it looks **** old.

obsolete

@michael_spaw @Kelly_Michels  Any news about this?

This is such a beneficial implementation that would serve so many parts of Max.

For ex Having a curve graph to input the  chamfer/bevel profile or the Extrude direction (for theExtrude along spline), Extrude spline modifier same as we have for TextPlus object it's  a much more e elegant consistent solution than having to create another object-a spline-in the viewport.

Blender has  anice implementation and UI for it:

modeling_modifiers_generate_bevel_profile-widget
