Improvements to parameter UI: bigger default font size

Increase the default font size by 1px at least!

The number of 4K monitors is increasing, but still the font size is still 11px - too tiny. Many people have already tried to increase it, with font hacks etc.

Can we have 12px per default? That's the font size of the Ribbon text already anyway.

The menu titles are not defined by Windows, they use the same Qt menu system as the menu contents. If you change the scaling resolution (i.e. from 150% to 200%) both the menu titles and the menu contents will grow equally. The menu contents are the same size as the font used in the rest of Max, but you are correct that the menu header is bigger. That was by design.

As for making the default font size larger in general, you can adjust the operating system scaling, but there is no separate font size control.

@ihooper That sad. Because header font size as much same as in other software with same DPI scale (150%) and good for reading.
Increasing content menu font as @Tupaia suggest will be improved readable of the text.
Maybe font size will be good add as parameter of 3dsmax.ini for "advanced users"...

Having our dev and designer look into this and they said it could be a simple update, however on the testing side, it's a massive undertaking. There could be untold dialogs impacted. In addition, our localized versions could be greatly impacted as well. A 1px change could make a huge different in German for instance.

Understandable, but a pity still.

If you scale the font size - do the same with the spacing / layout of the panels, and it should be fine, right?

That hard-wired pixel-coordinate layout in many panels is the real problem. It comes out of the user interface stone age.

One day you will have to tackle that anyway, I trust, because screen resolutions will only get bigger and bigger.

It seems everything is set in stone within the Max UI. Its like a fatality.

So unfortunate, it's barely readable as is. Do you want all users to buy magification glasses to be able to read the UI on High-DPI screens. Max is now the worst of all packages I use for UI scaling...
